SKW
was formed 1989 in Milan, Italy as Skywalker. The line-up in 2003 is: Marco
(lead vocals), Simone (guitar), Mirko (bass) and Giancarlo (drums & percussions).
Skywalker's first demo-tape was released in 1992. In 1993 the band started
playing live to support the "Flying Straight To Hell" demo. That
same year the second demo "Time Bloody Time" was released. The tape
received great reviews from the Italian press and radio/magazines/fanzines.
During this period the first vocalist Fabio left the band to be replaced by
Maurizio. In 1995 Skywalker came alive once again, during this year the band
played at a number of well know and respected venues in Milan such as "Rolling
Stone" and recorded their very professional third demo tape "Isolation".
"Isolation" was very well received with excellent national coverage
by specialized magazines, fanzines, newsletters and radio shows. In 1996 the
singer Maurizio left the band and was replaced by the new aggressive vocalist
Marco. In 1997 Skywalker were called upon by the most important Italian Metal
magazine "Metal Hammer" to play at the great "Tribute to Metallica"
gig at the Factory (Milan) where they supported important Rock/Metal bands.
A few months later, in the summer of 1997 Skywalker played another well-known
venue: Palaquatica (Milan), this gig was deemed a great success and the band
achieved general consent from all. After playing in many important Metal shows
and festivals and having tracks included in various Italian and foreign compilations,
Skywalker changed their monicker to SKW and in 1998 recorded their definitive
international consecration "TECHNO-LOGICAL", a powerful killer CD
for which SKW signed a deal with Adrenaline records for worldwide distribution
in 1999. During 1999 the band played in Milan as support to Max Cavalera's
Soulfly and Amorphis, and also played Metallica classics in an alternative
way with Jason Newsted from Metallica during a party for the new Metallica
release "S&M". SKW is also on "Phantom Lords" , the
Adrenaline tribute CD to Metallica, with "Metal Militia" and "For
Whom the Bell Tolls", both covered in a technological and modern way.
